Posted 16th January 2020
We are pleased to announce that IGGI student Charlie Ringer has been selected as a finalist for the inaugural Twitch Research Fellowship for his research into using Machine Learning for detecting highlights in livestreams. The Twitch Research Fellowship is an initiative by live-streaming platform Twitch.tv, a subsidiary of Amazon, to reward Ph.D. students who are researching live-streaming. In total 5 Fellows and 6 additional Finalists were chosen from an unexpectedly large pool of applicants. In being selected as a finalist, Charlie has been awarded $5,000 dollars and is the only student selected as a finalist or fellow who is studying outside of the USA and Canada.
