Kyle is a composer, sound designer and researcher whom is investigating and designing AI tools that use machine learning in order to assist composers in their day to day tasks. His PhD research focuses on generating musical compositions in the style of analysed compositions, generating alternative melodies in real-time for pre-composed pieces and enhancing the musical and expressive qualities of midi compositions. Kyle has graduated from Leeds Beckett University with a MSc in Sound and Music for Interactive Games, and Manchester Metropolitan University with a BA (Hons) in Creative Music Production.
Beyond the focus of his own research, Kyle is interested in most areas of research around games, but most specifically; game audio/ludomusicology, music generation, expressive rendering, music information retrieval, audio for the web and music psychology.
Kyle has always been proactive musically outside of his studies and he is an IMDb accredited composer, who ran a start-up writing music for independent games and running music events around the North West of England. Kyle has also reviewed game audio for the Sound Architect website and has performed on tours and at festivals in a variety of signed and un-signed bands. Kyle’s most recent ventures have taken him cruising around the Mediterranean Sea as a session musician.
